As befits the title, this album is replete with nuggets from brass band repertoire spanning music from long ago through to the most recent time. This is immediately underlined by the first two tracks, the renowned contest march, The BB&CF, written in 1900, and Philip Sparke's A Bandsman's Overture, premiered by Black Dyke Band in 2012.
