Fountain City Brass Band was formed in 2002 and celebrated its fifth anniversary in 2007. It was also the year that saw the band rocket to the forefront of American banding with its first contesting victories, claiming victory at the North American Brass Band Association Championships and the US Open Brass Band Championships, with record setting performances at each.
It was also the year of the band's first tour of the United Kingdom. This saw the band give performances throughout the country, highlighted by its appearance at the All England Masters International Championship and the Whit Friday march contests. For both of these competitions, Fountain City Brass Band was the first American band to ever compete and achieved excellent results.
While in England, Fountain City Brass Band also had the opportunity to share a concert and subsequent evening with the Bolton Youth Band. For many in Fountain City Brass Band, this was their first chance to hear a truly fantastic youth brass band and that evening was one of the great inspirations that led Fountain City Brass Band to begin work to form its own youth band.
2007 also saw Fountain City Brass Band record this album although not produced until 2010. All of the music contained on this recording is dear to the band for very special reasons, and all of it in some way played its part in this memorable year. With such a project crowning what was a fantastic year for the band, there could be no more fitting title for this recording to laud the band's many achievements and its high hopes for the future.
